After the famine, the village still needed some recovery time. This meant catching up on crops and sales. It took a while for the community to get back to normal, but during this period Will was left to keep coming to the library on a daily basis. Actually, this was a good thing for him. While everyone caught up on their crops, Will tried to catch up on his education. He was able to discover new topics that kids his age never even thought about. Will was advancing in his own way, but nothing was more of an advancement for him than one of his trips to the library on a cool day in 2006.
The inspectors had come to the library to do their job. One of the inspectors had seen Will's windmill in the school yard. Amazed, he asked the librarian who had done such a project. The inspector's amazement level was so high that he called his boss working five hours away in Zomba. It turned out that the boss was so curious about the project his employee described, that he had to come down to Dowa by himself to personally see this contraption. The boss was introduced as Dr. Mchazime and he asked William questions ranging from his educational background to AC and DC power and then he said something that would change the way Will viewed all the harsh criticism.
"You may not realize, but [you] have done an amazing thing, and this is only the beginning. You're going to see a lot more people here to see [you]. I have a feeling [you] will go far. I want you to be ready."
Being interviewed was of course fun, but it didn't just stop there. Dr. Mchazime had reporters and journalists come to the house and interview Will some more.
"This is fantastic, the whole world needs to know about this boy"
While he was wondering how life could get any better, Dr. Mchazime was planning for Will to attend a school dedicated to science on a full scholarship. William Kamkwamba was a star, but he wasn't the only one that knew it.
